ButtonBass VoxSquad — Beatbox Character Mixer
VoxSquad is a free drag-and-drop beat maker that runs entirely in your browser — no download, no signup. Drag beats, bass, melodies and vocal loops onto seven animated characters and they perform your mix live on stage: bouncing on the beat, blinking, and singing along. Every sound is a real ButtonBass beatbox loop locked to one tempo and key, so any combination sounds good — no music theory needed.
Build a groove with a beat and a bass line, layer a melody on top, then drop a vocal on the last member of the crew. Tap a character to mute them for instant breakdowns, and clear a slot to swap in a different sound. The spotlight, ground glow and mouth animation all follow the audio, so the stage always shows you exactly who is making which sound.
How to Use VoxSquad
1. Add a sound to a character. Pick a chip from the palette — Beats, Bass, Melody or Vox — and drag it onto any of the seven stage slots. On touch screens, swipe over the sounds to scroll. Tap a sound to bring the characters into view, then tap one to add it. You can also hold a sound briefly to drag it; keep your finger near the top or bottom edge to scroll while dragging. The member pops onto the stage and starts performing in time with your mix.
2. Mix your crew live. Tap a member to mute or unmute them, and use the × button to clear a slot. Because everything is quantized to the bar, dropping sounds in and out always lands on the beat — build-ups, drops and breakdowns are one tap away.
3. Share your mix. Hit Share mix to get a short code that captures your lineup and any re-rolled synth variants. Send it to a friend and they can paste it into the Load box to rebuild your exact mix — variants included — and hear your track.
Real loops, bar-quantized — plus a synthesized pack
The sounds in VoxSquad are the same loops that power the ButtonBass BeatBox Cube, fired by a bar-quantized Web Audio scheduler at 120 BPM. Because every loop shares one tempo and one key, every squad you assemble is already a song.
The chips wearing a small SYN tag are different: nothing is downloaded for them. Those drums, basses, pads and singing robot voices are synthesized in your browser the instant you use them, with the same glottal-and-formant vocal model behind the ButtonBass VOX synthesizer — and they are tuned to the squad's key, so they mix with every sampled loop.
Every synth sound is also generative: hover or tap its squad member and hit the ↻ re-roll button to regenerate it — a new drum groove and kit voicing, a new bass riff, a new arpeggio or chord voicing, a new sung phrase — 62 variants per sound, always in the squad's key. The variant is part of your mix code, so a shared re-roll comes back exactly as you heard it.
